A Trip to the Apple Orchard

Sam's class had their first field trip in September. Troy & I got to tag along as we headed to Bryson's Apple Orchard in Long Creek. Of course I decided to take the VERY scenic route that involved going to Georgia first & then back-tracking through a national forest to get to the apple orchard. It was not a pretty sight & I felt like the worst parent ever getting lost during Sam's first field trip & making us late. Josh fortunately was able to talk me off the ledge & get my directions sorted out so we did finally get to the orchard (so grateful for cell phones & google maps).
We met up with Mrs. Rose & Mrs. Ginger & the others in his class for a quick picture (Sam is hiding in the back). Then it was off to pick apples.

Troy so much wants to be at school with Sam & it is wonderful that they let me bring him when I help out with field trips.

Sharing a peach slush.

We had a great time. I got some apple butter (yum!) & the boys picked a bag FULL of apples. They weren't quite ripe but did make a great apple pie.
