Family Time in the Woods

The other Saturday was a beautiful fall day and we decided to go on a hike to the Chattooga River. We loaded up Sam, Troy, Shiloh, & Dozer and headed to the woods.

Sam & I are rock hunting while Troy watches from his perch in the pack.
Josh, Sam, Shiloh, & Dozer enjoying the water.
Josh was showing Sam how to throw rocks in the water...notice the action shot of Shiloh on her way to find that rock! Dozer was just confused.

More Time at the River

One of my favorite pictures of Josh & Sam.
Josh checks on Troy during our break.
Josh, the boys, & dogs on a footbridge watching the water. Sam loves to throw rocks & sticks into the water.
Family shot before hiking back to the car. We pulled out the Baby Bjorn and I carried Troy in it and Josh carried Sam in the back pack for the return trip. Our boys did so good...just the first of many more family hikes to come!

Pumpkin Painting...not ready for carving

Before we went to the pumpkin patch I had bought some small "pumpkins" at the grocery store for Sam to play with. We decided to paint them one afternoon. Here Sam is working on his pumpkin.

Notice his skillful use of color!
Troy joined the fun by watching...sorry, one day you'll be old enough.
Sam's pumpkin on the left & Troy's on the right (I helped with Troy's).

Denver Downs

We went to the pumpkin patch at Denver Downs the other night. We played in the hay barn, visited with some farm animals, went on a hayride, through a corn maze, and got a pumpkin! It was an action packed evening.
Sam having fun in the corn box.

In addition to the large corn maze there were two smaller hay mazes. Here Sam warms up on the smallest hay bale maze.
You can see the round hay bale maze behind us. We tried that one next and then after a fun hayride we went though the big corn maze...good thing Josh is blessed with a sense of direction because if I had been leading we would still be out there!

Still At The Patch

Sam was checking out the donkey...I was making sure he kept all his fingers.
Troy tries his first mouthfull of hay.
Our two punkins with the pumpkins.
I can't believe how old Sam looks in this picture...and how chubby Troy's cheeks look!

We Love the Williamses!

We are fortunate to have some good friends that live in our neighborhood. Lindsey is great about calling and getting the boys together. Sam & Jacob play really well together so that makes it fun for us too!
We went over for lunch the other day & it was such a nice break from the rainy morning that we were having.
Here Jacob shows off his Haloween costume.

Troy fell asleep after eating so I put him on his blanket on the floor...Jacob thought that was a good idea and played along.
Sam & Jacob checking with their "caddy" on club selection.
Sam perfecting his one handed golf swing.
When Troy woke up Sam & Jacob got on their bellies to play with him. This picture really doesn't show just how cute they were being. Thanks for a fun morning and great lunch Lindsey!

On To Tennessee

After leaving Arkansas we headed over to Lexington, Tennessee to visit with Josh's other grandparents and for his cousin Barry's wedding.
Here Granddaddy puts Troy (& himself) to sleep.
Fortunately there were lots of toys for Sam to play with (thanks Isabell!).
Sam shows Grandmama how to work this toy.
Here are Aunt Meg, Uncle John, Uncle Matt, & Aunt Stacy enjoying some of Nana's waffles.
Sam & Pops play while Nana works in the kitchen.

More Tennessee Fun

Sam & Troy adjusted well to sleeping in pack-n-plays. I guess the light was too much for Sam this time!
During the wedding Sam, Troy, & I hung out in the hotel.

Trip to Searcy

The other week we took a trip to visit Josh's grandparents. After having supper with Uncle Jonathan in Nashville we headed to Searcy, Arkansas. Here Papaw has the touch & gets Troy to sleep.

Not to be outdone, Mamaw had her turn with Troy.
We went to visit Uncle Phil at the Searcy Airport. He gave us a great tour & we saw lots of fun planes. Sam was most impressed with the gyro-copter that kept flying over.
Aunt Rita Kay came by every day & we even went out to her "farm" one afternoon for some country fun.
During our visit we managed to find two plumbing problems for Josh & Papaw to investigate. They decided that calling a plumber was the best course of action.

Fun at Spring Park

While we were in Arkansas Mamaw took us to Spring Park one afternoon to play. Josh had to go down the slide a few times with Sam.

Then he had to go up & pull Sam down the tube slide. What a great dad!
Mamaw & Troy watched from the bench.
Sam finally realized that going down the slide (by himself) was fun. By the time we left he was going down on his belly head first!

More Arkansas Fun

Posing for a picture on the garage bench.
Sam loved chasing the guineas at Uncle Phil & Aunt Rita Kay's. Aunt RK let us take a ride on their nice John Deere tractor. Josh & I got to see more of their property from the air conditioned comfort of the enclosed cab!
Another attempt at getting a picture with the great-grands.
Sam & I took a stroll after playing at the park. Mamaw, Troy, & Josh were way too fast for us to keep up with!
We had such a wonderful visit!
